Horses reserve their unique position in the life of nations, which they acquired because of their central role throughout the ages and in various civilizations As They were used in multiple methods, in cases of peace and war Which granted them the position of the loyal friend of man The idea of the research is to study the documents related to the use of horses in the administrative works of the Egyptian police in an important period in the history of Egypt, in which the first steps of the security body were being formed, which is the second half of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century.

These documents are integrated subsets of the documents and records of the Interior Ministry's bureau deposited in the national Archive, which are a group of single documents saved inside files with a total number of about three hundred files.

The study aims at identifying the shape and formation of the horses used in security services and the extent of the impact of this formation on the tasks assigned to them in addition to the early uses in police work such as guards, patrols, watch bodies.

As well as studying the documents from an archival side and linking them with the the record group of the documents of Interior Ministry's bureau.

The study followed the documentary approach in both analytical and structural aspects with the purpose of analyzing the form and content of documents and concluding to the historical facts therein.

The study managed to identify the horse types used in the administrative work of the Egyptian Police, and the acquisition policy of police horses to serve the bureau.

And the specifications of horses suitable for use and horses auctions.

The study succeeded to prepare an alphabetical objective index of the files that dealt with this subject within the documents of the Interior Ministry's bureau as a tool to restore this sub-groub of documents.
