The strategy of the local dairy industries is part of a vertical integration approach to meet the need for raw materials generated by their dependence on imported milk powder.

In the context of upstream vertical integration, the relationship with breeders-suppliers is crucial and can even determine the degree of such integration.

This work aims to study the importance of vertical integration upstream of the dairy industries of the Bejaia region through the analysis of the results of a field survey on the nature of existing contracts between the local dairy industries and their supplier-breeders.

Our results thus confirm the findings already established by several studies across the Algerian territory due to the vulnerability of the dairy-supplier relationships.

الملخص FRE

La stratégie des industries laitières locales s’inscrit dans une optique d’intégration verticale pour répondre au besoin en matières premières engendré par leur dépendance vis-à-vis de la poudre de lait importée.

Dans le cadre d’une intégration verticale en amont, la relation avec les éleveurs-fournisseurs est cruciale et peut même déterminer le degré d’une telle intégration.

Ce présent travail vise à étudier l’importance de l’intégration verticale en amont des industries laitières de la région de Bejaia à travers l’analyse des résultats d’une enquête de terrain sur la nature des contrats existants entre les industries laitières locales et leurs fournisseurs-éleveurs.

Nos résultats, ainsi, confirment les constats déjà établit par plusieurs études à travers le territoire algérien compte à la vulnérabilité des rapports laiterie-fournisseur.
