This work focuses on regional economic integration in the Arab Maghreb.
Its objective is to determine whether this Maghreb integration project set out in the UMA Constitutive Treaty of February 17 1989, does it really translate into a success or a failure for the five countries of the region.
For that, it was a question of examining on the one hand, the assets which represent the Maghreb region and the obstacles on the other hand which slow down the process of integration even the economic and political constraints.
Maintaining the current trade situation between the Maghreb countries cannot generate the development and growth desired by the Maghreb countries in order to reduce the gap with the developed countries compared to other regional economic groupings which display integration rates.

The main conclusion regarding integration at the regional level is that political tensions have largely contributed to the slowness and then to the blocking of the integration process.
الملخص FRE
Ce travail s'intéresse à l'intégration économique régionale dans le Maghreb arabe.
Son objectif est de déterminer si ce projet d'intégration maghrébine énoncé dans le Traité Constitutif de l'UMA du 17 février 1989, traduit-il, réellement un succès ou un échec pour les cinq pays de la région.
Pour cela, il a été question d'examiner les atouts que représentent la région maghrébine et les obstacles qui freinent le processus d'intégration voire les contraintes économiques et politiques.
Le maintien de la situation actuelle des échanges entre les pays Maghrébins ne peut pas engendrer le développement et la croissance voulus par les pays Maghrébins afin de réduire le gap avec les pays développés comparativement à d'autres regroupements économiques régionaux qui affichent des taux d'intégration satisfaisants.
La principale conclusion tirée concernant l'intégration au niveau de cette région, est que les tensions politiques ont largement contribué à la lenteur puis au blocage du processus d'intégration.
