This study treating the right of self-determination in contemporary international law, especially in the situation of Kurdistan and Catalonia, in view of the current acute crisis in the national state, leading to many demands for independence and separation under the of self-determination.

This study attempts to study this by analyzing the problems related to the right of self-determination in international law', and the obsession of reconciling separatism and preserving the unity of stale sovereignty, such as the regional situation of Kurdistan and Catalonia.

The study concluded that the principle of the right of self-determination in international law is no longer a place of agreement as in the past but has become rcticcnt towards the recognition of the right of minorities to self-determination towards secession, because it did not expressly provide for this right, only he was referring to the need to protect these minorities without separation .
