The study deals with the impacts that resulted from the intervention of people in the area of study between Darbandakhan and Himren dams.

It deals with the negative impacts that appear as a result from the extraction of the river sediments (quarries) in the form of gravel and sand as it considered as a primary material for many building materials.

The study shows the effects of the extraction of gravel and sand from the downstream and islands in the construction of halls and big pools and its role in the pollution of water in addition to its clear impacts on the changes on the surface of earth and the stream of Diyala River.

The study also clarifies the positive benefit of the quarries in the exploitation of gravel and sand in the building industries and in the gardens.
