The current research aims to identify: - The level of cognitive independence among middle school students- Are there statistically significant differences for sex (male - female) for the level of cognitive independence at the stage Intermediate In order to achieve the goals of the research, it was necessary to have a tool to measure the cognitive independence of the stage students.

Intermediate and after the two researchers reviewed the relevant literature and previous studies On the topic of the research, the two researchers relied on the Sharqawi index.

1995 (where they relied on the theory of differentiation).

Psychological.

) For cognitive independence, and after conducting all the psychological characteristics metric of honesty and consistency, as it was achieved.

Virtual honesty by presenting paragraphs of the scale to a group of arbitrators in educational psychology.

Psychological counseling, if the arbitrators agreed on all paragraphs, and the number of paragraphs was (36) paragraphs.

As for stability, it was achieved.

Through two methods (retest, alfaker and nebach) and by using the Pearson correlation coefficient of the scale (0.82) As for the coefficient of the internal consistency of Fakronbach (0.79).

In order to achieve the objectives of the research, the researchers applied the scale to a sample that was chosen randomly.

The stratum reached (180) male and female students from the intermediate stage.

The two researchers used statistical methods.

The calculation for achieving the research objectives is percentage, mean, standard deviation and testT sample for two independent samples and Pearson correlation coefficient.

The two researchers reached the following results: 1- The current research sample is characterized by cognitive independence2- There are statistically significant differences in cognitive independence according to the gender variable (male = female) in favor of females.

Recommendations: - The Ministry of Education should provide a supportive environment and its active role in the crystallization and differentiation of the cognitive function from one age to another.

- Developing awareness of the concept of independence, except for cognitive independence per se, as determining personality, as it is an internal reference that is directed, which helps in psychological guidance processes in the long run.

Suggestions: - Conducting studies similar to the current study on other samples that include individuals from different social strata- Measuring cognitive independence and its relationship to the level of ambition or any other variables
