The use of the Prospectingapproach is less used in media studies, but the imperatives of boldness between social and human sciences with information and communication sciences have been called forinvestment in the field of future studies by the need of social, economic, political, psychological, linguistic and historical knowledge.

So, what is the importance of this type of studies and what is its role in expanding research in the field of information and communication sciences? This problem is addressed in four parts, the first section deals with the quality ativemethod and its importance in media studies.

At the second part, we move on to define the meaning of future studies then we give a historical background on future studies in the third part.

The latter section is devoted to the methodological uses of prospecting in information and communication research.
