Unusual case of idiopathic intracranial hypertension

Benign intracranial hypertension presents with headache in obese females of childbearing age, whose examinations reveal papilledema, which may end in optic atrophy if the condition is not treated properly. We hereby report an unusual case, whereby a fifty-two year old slim postmenopausal female, presented with drop of vision of both eyes, not associated with headache nor any other symptom that is suggestive of intracranial pressure rise. The patient was eventually found to have benign intracranial hypertension as the cause. The unusual age of presentation without being overweight or having any of the symptoms of raised intracranial pressure mandated documentation of this case.
