الملخص EN

This study aims to identify ego identity statuses (diffusion, Foreclosure, Moratorium, and Identity Achievement) in their various aspects (ideological, social, and overall identity) and identity styles (informational, normative, diffuse-avoidant and identity commitment) among Princess Nourah University(PNU) students.

Also the study aims to identify the relation between identity statuses and identity styles.

To achieve the objectives of the study was applied to 176 female students of Princess Noura Bint Abdul Rahman University with an average age of 20 years, and applied the objective measure of Ego Identity Status, and the scale of the Identity Style Invetory after checking the stability and credibility of the tools.

The study findings indicate that the ego identity statuses of the sample participants were in the pre-formation stage.

The results show that a minority of the sample corresponded to the identity diffusion status and the intermediate transition status.

The identity styles most often used by the sample participants were, in order, informational, normative, commitment, and avoidant.

The study also finds a direct (positive) relation between diffusion, foreclosure, moratorium, and identity achievement of the ideological, social, and overall ego identity and the dimensions of the ISI (informational, avoidant, and normative).

Moreover, the study shows different results in the relation between identity achievement status of the ideological, social, and overall identity and the commitment style, where there was not a relation between the commitment identity style and the ideological ego identity, and there was a direct and positive relation with the social, and overall ego identities.

The results reveal also a negative inverse relation between statuses of the ideological, social, and overall ego identity measure (moratorium, foreclosure, and diffusion) and the commitment style.
