الملخص الإنجليزي

This study was conducted in the winter season 2010-2011 at Bashiqa / Tobzawh village (25 km) east of Mosul and at Hemidat / AL-masiad village (20 km) west of Mosul.

Both regions located within the semi-arid areas belt its̓ rainfall is the study included two experiments at each site, the first one included studying the effect of four nitrogen fertilizer levels (zero , 50 , 75 and 100 kg N / ha,) on growth character, Forage yield and of five varieties of oats (T , P , M , K and S) at three growth phases booting, milky and soft dough, the Each experiment was carried out according to a Design in Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three replications.

The most significant results, are the following1 -Nitrogen fertilization affected all growth characters and yield at both sites.

T variety surpassed other the varieties in plant height and fresh and dry forage yield, while variety K surpassed the others in the number of tillers m².

Growth phases affected significantly all growth characters, forage yield, at both sites.

The highest dry forage yield and highest yield for all the qualitative characters where achieved at the Soft dough stage of grains.
