This research aimed to verify the effectiveness of self-regulated learning to develop some reading comprehension skills in high school students.

In order to achieve this goal, the researcher developed the following tools: a questionnaire designed to determine the reading comprehension skills needed by students in the second year of secondary school and a test of reading comprehension skills.

The research sample included 68 students from the second year of high school at Essam Koura secondary school in Al-Alaqema Hehia in Al-Sharqia governorate.

The researcher divided this sample into two groups: the experimental group (34 students) who learned according to the self-regulated learning and the control group (34 students) who learned according to the traditional method.
