Studying particular leading figures and scholars and investigating their approach in writing history are definitely significant to researchers and academics.

This is because of the intellectual affinities that reflect in shaping general frameworks for their approach, analyzing and even criticizing it.

Accordingly, this paper handles the social and academic biography of a well-known Karbala'i figure.

Abdul-Jawad Al-Kilidar, the focus of the study, is one of the first-generation historians, an educated elite, and a famous Alawi scholarly family member in Karbala.

There are three sections in this study: the first is devoted to his environment, upbringing, and his intellectual background.

In the second section, focus is directed to his approach in writing history, namely the manuscript 'General History of Karbala', through which his innovative maneuver in history writing is distinctively uncovered, in addition to the necessary objective tools for that wit.

The third section is saved for intellectual evaluations of 'General History of Karbala' and other works of his.
