ABSTRACT A lot has changed since the AK Party came into power in 2002.

This article focuses on the changes that occured within the publishing sector.

First, by using concrete data, the article discusses the current success of the publishing sector and then examines what has been done to internationalize the Turkish publishing sector.

Following, the article analyses what kind of responses were given to critical events such as the Gezi Park Violence Movement and the July 15 coup attempt initiated by FETO.

In this section it becomes clear that there is a political divergence.

In the final section of the article, the author notes a couple of suggestions for the future of the publishing sector in Turkey.
