دراسة تأثير الاختلاطات الجراحية على النتائج السمعية عند مرضى تصنيع الركابة

Background: Otosclerosis is relatively common cause of progressive conductive hearing loss with normal tympanic membrane، and stapedotomy is a common surgery in otolaryngology department of Almowassat hospital، because they have no idea about the results of this surgery, where common among doctors as well as patients that the success rate of stapedectomy is low.

There is no researches about stapedotomy with surgical complications، the aim of this research is to know the acoustic results of stapedotomy in our hospital and the effects of surgical complications on acoustic results، and the rate of this surgical complications.

Material & methods : A prospective study on 48 patients who had undergone stapedotomy in ENT department of Almowassat hospital، we dependent on the average of five frequencies(250-4000)HZ of the bone and air conduction and of the air bon gap (of pure tone audiogram) before and after three months of surgery in patients with surgical complications and without surgical complications.

We dependent on T test and P value.

Results : The successful incidence of stapedotomy in our study was 84.37% in patients without surgical complications، and 80% in patients with surgical complications.

The incidence of profound sensorineural hearing loss (most important complication) was 2.08%، there is no difference in acoustic results between patients with surgical complications and without surgical complications (P=0.508).

Conclusion:There is no effect of surgical complications on hearing results،so we can give the patient the surgical choice for otosclerosis ،The successful incidence of stapedotomy in our study in patients with surgical complications was 80%.
