This research aims to describe, compare analyze the study plans of the bachelor's and master's degree programs in library and information science in public and private Jordanian universities.

It covers the general characteristics of these plans, and the subject distribution of compulsory and elective requirements on the subject areas approved for library and information science in this study.

The main tool used in this research is descriptive, analytical and comparative approach.

The study plans of the four Jordanian universities are described, compared and analyzed.

Results at the level of analysis of the study plans for bachelor's degree showed that the most important general characteristics of these plans include: the agreement between three universities in naming their programs as "library and information science", while Al- Balqa Applied University named its program as "Library and Information Management", the four programs differ in the administrative affiliation while there was agreement in the total number of credit hours (132) for each program despite the fact that they differ in the number of credit hours for the compulsory and elective requirements.

As for the subject distribution of these requirements, results showed a discrepancy between the four programs in covering the compulsory requirements of the subject areas.

Emphasis was given to the areas of information technology and information organization.

As for the electives, the study revealed that the four programs attach great importance to the types of information institutions and their management.

As for the analysis of the study plans for master's degree programs, it was found that the two programs offered by the University of Jordan and Al-Hussein Bin Talal University differ in naming and administrative affiliation.

They both agree in offering two tracks: one for thesis submission and the other for the comprehensive exam.

On the other hand, they agree on the total number of credit hours (33) and in the distribution of the number of compulsory and elective hours in the two tracks.

As for the nature of the content, the University of Jordan’s program combines in both tracks, "library and information science and information technology", while the program of Al Hussein bin Talal University combines "information science, digital archiving and digital preservatio
