Dr.

Saleh Jawad Al-Toma is considered one of the most prominent poets produced in the city of Karbala in the twentieth century who possesses the head of literature and the growth of knowledge.

God Almighty has endowed him with a wide flow of fiction, imagination and strong memory which made him a virtuous and good writer who tended himself to literature, so he excelled in literary arts and practiced teaching in international universities.

This study aims to identify the biography of Dr.

Saleh, his activity and his honorable social and cultural role in defending the homeland and the Arab nation.

This is evident through his intellectual activity represented in publishing many books and articles that explain his national positions.

Mr.

Saleh, a contemporary of famous writers in the Arab countries and had literary and cultural connections with them, that enabled him to acquire diverse and abundant cultures, which reflected on his knowledge and sciences, and made him one of the important figure of his time.

This research was based on the literary approach in reviewing the biography of Dr.

Saleh, the storing of Karbala memory of his role and activities in the past years, as well as the contents of books, newspapers and magazines of his intellectual and literary papers.

The search was limited to his poetry and his poetry was influenced by Western poets, and the result of that reflected on his scientific career, postponing the
