This study proceeds from a hypothesis that the novel is an open memory of the folk heritage in all its forms so that it answers a pivotal question that focuses on how the folk heritage in the Saudi novel is received.

Thus, the significance of this study is clearly demonstrated as it considers the novel a follow-up text that writes a former text.

To consolidate this hypothesis, light is shed on the image component in the novel "Robatt Al-Walaya" (charity housing for poor women) for being a pool rife with unique popular intertextualities employed in a photographic documentary panorama in which narration is mixed with dramatic dialogue.

It is in general, an artistic mold of a hybrid documentary nature, yet it is significant in several aspects, the key of which may be that it assimilates the heritage of a Hejazi woman and greatly contributes to its employment and preservation in reality.

On the other hand, through this text, the superior ability of the text to assimilate other arts embodies the hypothesis about the dialogic feature of the narrative text.

Hence, the tasks of this research are summarized in an attempt to employ techniques of visual semiotics to uncover the inspirational manifestations of folk heritage in "Robatt Al-Walaya", and search for the methods of its employment, its patterns of work and its role in forming the structures of the narrative text.

Accordingly, the course of this research is confined to two trends: The first is concerned with the detection of heritage manifestations; the second studies the relationship of the verbal heritage texts to the photographic memory that records the arts of folk heritage associated with the world of women of costumes, ornaments, vessels and the like.
