The Principle: Islamic Legislation has been revealed in the classical language of the Arabs and the effects of this in promoting moderation in understanding Islamic texts.

When an individual - living years after the period of the quintessence of the Arabic language - wants to understand the meaning of Quranic verses and prophetic narrations of regulations, how can he arrive at an unbiased understanding of those texts.This is the inquiry of this study and its main question.

The objectives of this study are centralized around the following: 1.

For the reader to comprehend the principle “Islamic Law was revealed in the Classical Arabic language; therefore, it cannot be truly understood except by understanding Classical Arabic”, and to be convinced of the evidences of this principle.

2.

To be able to benefit from this principle when trying to attain a neutral understanding of Islamic texts, and avoid radical understandings stemming from a reliance on contemporary understandings of the Arabic language.

My approach in this study is descriptive methodology.
