The story feature on social media sites performs several functions to the audience of its users while publishing their diary, through the function of news, censorship, entertainment, and thru the feature of the ephemeral communication that lasts only 24 hours, this feature provides the services via tools of images, videos, and texts.

This feature is very popular with the audience of Social Media, who have become the storytellers of their daily stories by making this feature the door for their diary to appear to followers, plus the applications compete with each other to add continuous updates to this feature through its new versions, to attract as many digital story aficionados as possible.

This study attempted to present a theoretical approach to the digital story through a descriptive and expressive approach, also to show many aspects of this feature, from the perspective of media functions, semiotic perspective, as well as in terms of the editing arts of traditional media, which sometimes come close to what this feature provides.
