Volunteer work is concerned with development issues in various societal fields; However, the practice of volunteer work among university youth in Egypt does not live up to what is hoped for in advancing development at the national level, and is not commensurate with the size and energies of this important age group compared to its counterparts in the international community, according to the assertion of many national and academic studies and official and civil reports.

This is in contrast to their counterparts from international universities, which are witnessing an increasing growth in the number of students coming to volunteer work, as universities are keen on the participation of university youth in volunteer work.
