Cataloging and Catalogs are among affected by the tremendous developments in Information Technology the Internet revolution and the absolute sovereignty imposed by the network environment on the sources of information, procedures, treatment and availability .

The last 10 years have witnessed particularly strong e-publishing of the large volume of e-information, both physical and virtual, on millions of Web sites, This development in electronic publishing has been accompanied by a similar development of electronic means of control over the flow of information, its rules, standards, coding languages, forms, initiatives, etc.

So the study came to shed light on these innovative means and methods which are often different from the previous methods that have become traditional and the new concepts that have changed the direction of the technical procedures and turned them to other trends, Such as means that work under the umbrella of the so-called metadata (MARC21, Dublin Core standard, coding languages such as (HTML, XML) , and developed standards in this direction as a criterion ( MODS) to description schema or entity, and others), so as to suit the nature of electronic sources of information, especially internet sources, It also appeared (FRBR) as a model describing the compilation of different entities in the bibliographic environment and clarifying the bibliographic relations between them, Accordingly, the (RDA) came to complement the (AACR2) because the first works in the Internet environment and integrated with what paved the means and what has been developed from them, while the second works in the paper environment and traditional methods.

The researcher relied on the descriptive method and reference to the literature of the subject, the study concluded with the inevitable result of calling on the information society and libraries, especially in our Arab societies, towards a gradual and comprehensive change in the methods of cataloging and catalogs forms and in the educational curricula in the libraries and schools department and the training of our library staff to be qualified to deal with the new electronic environment .
