Like any other society, the Algerian one has lived through unprecedented and unexpected conditions since the beginning of 2020, due to the emergence of coronavirus (Covid - 19) which turned into a pandemic.

The health «authority» imposed a set of prevention measures that established, exceptionally, the family as the supreme social institution and home as the main space to manage a health crisis par excellence.

This unprecedented context, especially the home confinement, has led us to take an interest in what is going on inside the family as the pandemic is increasingly prevalent, How do its members live in the home confinement situation? More specifically, how do they spend time in one space for an unknown period? How are the bonds between them? What about their conflicts? All that compared to the period before the pandemic.

To answer these questions, we conducted a semi - field study involving twenty families who agreed to collaborate with us in this research; hence they accepted to communicate daily with us, pledging a serious contribution till the lockdown lifting whose date was still unknown.

That allowed us to follow the daily livelihood of each family without interruption from March 25 to June 15, 2020, focusing on three important variables: members’ activity before pandemic (Job, study), residence and residence area, as well as family income.
