The research deals with the historical development of Mogadishu under Italian colonial rule by tracking the urban, administrative and demographic development witnessed by the city between 1889 and 1942, and view models of urban monuments of the architectural features established by Italy during that period.

The author aims, through the study to contribute discovering the mystery surrounding the history of Somalia in general and the history of Mogadishu in particular.

The significance of the article is that it deals with the development of the capital at one of the most important stages of its history, namely the period of Italian colonial rule, especially during the fascist rule (1923-1942), where the administrative system was established which the municipality of Mogadishu after independence until now operate in it as well as the buildings of most of the current urban and economic facilities, and the fascist monuments and Italian architecture art remain an important part of Mogadishu's modern feature.

The researcher used the historical descriptive and analytical method, and cited the available references written in English, Arabic, Italian and Somali.

The study showed the great transformation of the city during that period, and recommended the need for further research for the history of Mogadishu contained in Italian documents, and the importance of preserving the rest of the city's heritage.
