The works of Hélène Cixous and of Pascal Quignard can be described as spaces of intentionality where a narrative program unfolds.
Their writings center on the “self” and suffering and present a clear display of authorial intentionality.
The basis for this intentional writing is the duty of memory that both narrators and authors feel they must engage in.
Readers “must” obviously join in this narrative quest for the dead through images and spectral traces, especially those related to the figure of the Mother.
Language and meaning are in a perpetual state of flux in such pursuit, but language in particular is the only tool available in the search for the past, the mother, and the dead.
It is in this fundamental instability, which claims neither total control nor perfect understanding of the world that authorial intentionality is maintained.
Therefore, the act of narration becomes an act of prestidigitation with intentionality.
These hyper-subjective writings do not only value playing on signifiers and language in general: every transfiguration is also a negotiation with reality, and narratives present points of view that are asserted and focused.
Ultimately, the effectiveness of writing is manifested in the virtuosity of the monumental work that each of these writers has published and where texts seem to echo one another.
Thus, the display of intentionality in Cixous’s and Quignard’s works goes beyond the perspective of the implicit author.
The logic behind their writing lies in a commitment that is summed up by their presence in the work.
The singularity of their voices can be understood through the presence of their intentionality, even if the latter lives in and among the deconstruction of language and personal trauma

Les oeuvres d’Hélène Cixous et de Pascal Quignard sont des textes que l’on pourrait décrire comme des espaces d’intentionnalité où se déploie un programme narratif.
À vrai dire, ces écritures de « soi » sur fond de souffrance, présentent un affichage clair de l’intentionnalité auctoriale.
Devant la mort, le devoir de mémoire semble s’y étaler, formant le socle de l’écriture intentionnelle.
Pour les lecteurs, « il faut » donc entrer dans ce mouvement de recherche des images et traces spectrales des instances narratrices.
La référentialité produit ainsi des effets de trouble dans la distinction des niveaux narratifs.
La métalepse a pour conséquence d’établir un lien de connivence entre l’auteur et le lecteur.
La crise se reflète dans l’errance du sens et du langage, que la mère représente plus que tout autre chez ces écrivains.
Le langage est défaillant mais le seul remède à la quête du passé et des morts.
C’est dans cette instabilité fondamentale, qui ne revendique ni maîtrise totale ni compréhension parfaite du monde, que se soutient l’intentionnalité.
Dès lors, l’acte de narrer devient un acte de prestidigitation à l’intentionnalité déclarée et à l’accomplissement impossible sans la connivence des lecteurs.
Ces écritures hyper-subjectives ne valorisent pas seulement le jeu sur le signifiant : toute transfiguration est une négociation avec le réel.
Il s’agit d’un discours sur le récit dont le point de vue est représenté et focalisé.
L’efficacité de l’écriture se manifeste dans la virtuosité d’une oeuvre monumentale.
Ainsi, l’affichage de l’intentionnalité chez Cixous et Quignard va au-delà de la perspective de l’auteur implicite.
La logique de leur oeuvre réside dans un engagement qui se résume dans la présence à l’oeuvre.
La singularité de leur voix s’entend à travers la présence appuyée de leur intentionnalité, même si celle-ci réside dans la déconstruction du langage et du trauma personnel.
