This study is concerned with the issue of chronicling the Arabic literature in accordance with the Theory of Evolution.

The purpose of this study is to overcome the issues of associating the history of Arabic literature to political history, as it was linked in the recipient's mind the division of Arabic literature into political epochs related to the ruling families in terms of progress and collapse until this kind of periodization became prevalent in most literature history books.

However, there are early attempts that emerged away from this kind of periodization and did not obtain a chance to be researched and studied such as an attempt to associate literary phenomena and genres with the theory of evolution.

Therefore, the philosophical premises of this theory will be discussed through searching for its roots in both East and West, searching for its premises and the foundations that are based on it.

Further, the presence of the theory in the history of Arabic literature is investigated, the mechanisms for its application, and the obstacles that hampered the attempts to apply this theory in chronicling our Arabic literature.
