This research aims to study the effect of the interaction between (i) the input language of information relating to the subject of the debate, via a video, and (ii) the planning language of the text, using an argumentation diagram, on the quality of argumentative texts produced in FFL by Algerian students.

The participants (n = 48) were divided into 4 groups according to a 2x2 factorial plan (Video language and Planning language: Arabic vs French).

Variance analysis results revealed a significant effect of the interaction of the two factors on the semantic quality of the texts.

This is facilitated by planning in Arabic in the case of video in Arabic, and by viewing the video in French in the case of planning in French.

These results corroborate those available in the literature and highlight that planning in Arabic is recommended only in the case of knowledge learned in this language.

الملخص FRE

Cette recherche vise à étudier l'effet de l'interaction entre (i) la langue d'entrée des informations relatives au sujet du débat, via une vidéo, et (ii) la langue de planification du texte, à l'aide d'un diagramme d'argumentation, sur la qualité de textes argumentatifs produits en FLE par des étudiants algériens.

Les participants (n=48) ont été répartis en 4 groupes selon un plan factoriel 2x2 (Langue de la vidéo et Langue de planification: arabe vs français).

Les résultats de l'analyse de variance ont révélé un effet significatif de l'interaction des deux facteurs sur la qualité sémantique des textes.

Celle-ci est favorisée par la planification en arabe dans le cas de la vidéo en arabe, et par le visionnement de la vidéo en français dans le cas de la planification en français.

Ces résultats corroborent ceux disponibles dans la littérature et mettent en évidence que la planification en arabe n'est recommandée que dans le cas de connaissances apprises dans cette langue.
