The study deals with the manifestations of psychological depression and its representations in the drawings of modernist artists by studying the concepts of psychological depression in the drawings of modernity artists for the period of time from 1890 AD to 1940 AD.

The research problem is represented by answering the following question: What are the manifestations of psychological depression, and how are they represented in the drawings of modernist artists? The aim of the research is to identify the manifestations of psychological depression and its representations in the drawings of modernist artists.

The research dealt with the concept of psychological depression and the concept of modernity intellectually and artistically.

The research sample consists of (5) plastic works which were collected intentionally to cover the limits of the research by adopting the descriptive analytical approach.

Among the most important results of the research: (1) The modernist artist showed a state of psychological depression in his artistic works with various topics and contents loaded with the artist's psychological emotions in varying ways.

The modernist has pent-up obsessions in the unconscious and causes psychological depression in bodies linked to reality, such as the shape of women, as they appeared in a symbolic visual form and a human head, which deepened the state of psychological depression.

Among the conclusions that psychological depression afflicted the artists of modernity of both types, neurotic depression as a result of external crises with others in society or with the self, and psychotic depression that affected them so much that they ended their lives by suicide, like the artist Van Gogh.
