The aim of the research is to study the impact of change in working capital on the profitability of Saudi joint-stock companies.

This is due to the close relationship between working capital and profitability in business companies.

The main hypothesis was there an effect of change in working capital on the profitability of Saudi joint-stock companies.

Thought testing the secondary hypothesis: there is a statistical relationship between change in working capital and both of return on equity, return on assets and return on sales.

The sample was five joint-stock companies from retailing sector ehich are: Jarir Marketing Company (JARIR), United Electronics Company (EXTRA), Saudi Automotive Services Company (SASCO), Alhassan Ghazi Ibrahim Shaker Company (SHAKER).

The horizontal analyses used to measure the magnitude and percent of change in the financial data used in this study during a ten years' time period using the financial statements prepare in 31-12-2010 to 31-12-2019.

A linear regression was performed to test the statistical relationship between the study variables using the statistical analysis program IMB SPSS 23.

The study findings show that there is strong significant statistical relationship between change in working capital and both of return on equity, return on assets and return on sales.

Therefore, there was statistical relationship between change in working capital and profitability of Saudi joint-stock companies.

The study recommends Saudi joint stock companies to manage working capital through (managing current assets and current liabilities) in more efficient ways, which in turn leads to increase its profitability.
