Modern linguistic theories have given the researchers some real opportunities to find out important linguistic phenomena that have been neglected by the traditionalists, like the tense.

So what makes the modern linguistic studies so special is their focus on studying the tense of the verb, its uses, and differentiate between the morphological tense (that has been divided by the traditionalists into past , present and future) and the syntactic tense (its function in sentences and its contextual indications).

It is suggested that the verb- tense relation is much wider than the three tenses, and the researchers should take into consideration the structures, tools and the linguistic pairs in studying sentences.

Since tense for modernists needs to be discussed, this paper is tackling that task for Generatives and for (Abd Al majeed Jahfa) becase he is one of the pioneers of that school.
