Background and Objective: Genital warts are an STD which has considerable therapeutic, social and psychological problems.

The ideal therapy should be effective, non-traumatic.

The aim of this study was to determine the efficacy and tolerance of zinc sulfate solution 10% in the treatment of genital warts in men (males over 18 years).

For this purpose, it had been compared with liquid nitrogen known as an effective treatment of genital warts.

Materials and Methods: The study includes 118 patients (males over 18 years), diagnosed with genital warts, and treated either by liquid nitrogen which was applied by the physician in all patients, or zinc sulfate solution 10% which was applied by the patients themselves after they were instructed to use the medication, all patients read and signed an informed consent form, during the period between 1st Jan-2017 and 30 Sep-2017, in STD clinic of dermatology hospital of Damascus University.

Results: The study included 59 patients, treated topically using liquid nitrogen and the percentage of cure was 64%.

59 patients were treated topically with 10% zinc sulfate solution, and the percentage of cure was 10%.

Conclusions: The topical zinc sulfate solution 10% is considered ineffective therapeutic method in the treatment of genital warts in men due to this study, with the suggestion to study the efficacy of topical zinc sulfate with high concentrations in the treatment of genital warts.
