Cryptocurrency is one of the contemporary emerging issues that still require further individual and group research.

to contribute to clarifying some of its issues, this work comes as an attempt to answer the main questions : what is cryptocurrency? what is its sharia legal ruling.

by investigating the position of Islamic law researchers regarding cryptocurrency and what is related to it, such as its definition and the technology that was built on it blockchain, we will come up with its legal ruling.

the researchers used a descriptive, inductive, and analytical approach.

they have reached a set of results.

the most important of them is blockchain technology can be used in many areas such as alms (zakah) and waqf.

dealing with cryptocurrency in its current essence in buying, selling and mining is not permissible.
