This study aimed at exploring the effectiveness of a cognitive behavioral counseling program in reducing the psychological consequences of non-reproduction among infertile wives in Irbid.

The sample of the study consisted of (30) infertile wives, who visit specialized clinics for the treatment of infertility.

The sample was chosen, and randomly distributed to two groups: experimental, and control.

To achieve the objectives of the study, the psychological implications scale, which was developed by Abu Hayin in (1992), was used for the preposttests of both groups.

A cognitive behavioral counseling program has been used to reduce the psychological consequences of non-reproduction among infertile wives in the treatment received by the experimental group.

In order to answer the study questions, means and standard deviations of the two groups were obtained in the pre and post-tests.

The level of performance of the pre-measurement of the control and experimental groups was medium, while the level of performance in the post-measurement of the experimental group was low, and for the control group was medium.

ANCOVA (analysis of covariance) was also used.

The results showed that the differences in the scales of the psychological implications of nonreproduction among infertile wives were statistically significant, in favor of the experimental group.

The follow-up test was also conducted for the experimental group.

The results indicated that there were no differences between the post test and the follow-up test.

Based on these findings, the researchers recommended the need to educate infertile women about the importance of psychotherapy, which is no less important than medical treatment, and contributes significantly to the activation and success of the treatment process.
