Iraq and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation 1979- 2012 The establishment of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation was an inevitable result imposed by international circumstances during the 1960s of the twentieth century.

Its establishment was a response to the interests and desires of the member states to regulate relations among themselves in the political, economic and cultural fields.

Islam is an essential factor in dealing between all parties, and Iraq is a notable member.

In the organization, hence we aim in our study to shed light on the political relations between the organization and Iraq in the period 1979-2012.

Iraq had an influential and effective role since its accession to the organization, and cooperation relations between the two parties were evident during the first Gulf War, but these relations were ent in the Second Gulf War as a result of the Iraqi ruling regime's adherence to its viewpoint, which led to the ence of the leadership role of Iraq, but the situation changed after 2003, As the cooperation relations were manifested in its best form, with the organization's initiative to sign several agreements, most notably the International Anti-Terrorism Agreement and the Mecca Agreement.
