In recent years, various countries around the world, especially in Europe, have adopted a new scientific approach called preventive archeology, with the aim of preserving their archaeological heritage and facing the various dangers that threaten many monuments and archaeological sites, in particular those that are buried, due to mega development projects.

The diagnostic phase in preventive archeology plays an important role in the field work, from the research and detection of archaeological remains until the scientific publication of the various results discovered, which will later become a scientific archive on which to support researchers in preparing their future field operations.

In this article, we will present the methodology of preventive diagnosis of prehistoric sites according to the French experience as a current pioneer in this field.

Ces dernières années, divers pays du monde, notamment européens, ont adopté une nouvelle approche scientifique appelée archéologie préventive, dans le but de préserver leur patrimoine archéologique et de faire face aux différents dangers qui menacent de nombreux monuments et sites archéologiques, en particulier ceux qui sont enfouis, en raison des méga projets de développement.

En archéologie préventive, La phase de diagnostic joue un rôle important dans le travail de terrain, à partir de la recherche et la detection des vestiges archéologiques jusqu'à la publication scientifique des différentes résultats découvertes, qui deviendront plus tard une archive scientifique sur laquelle s'appuient les chercheurs pour préparer leurs futures opérations de terrain.

Dans cet article, nous présenterons la méthodologie de diagnostic préventif des sites préhistoriques selon l'expérience française en tant que pionnier actuel dans ce domaine.
