This research aims to shed light on one of the chronic diseases suffered by some patients from the wealthy class of Roman society in particular in most of the states of the Roman Empire which is Gout (Ποδάγρα) and it was the reason for choosing the subject of research as gout is one of the most famous diseases.

It has a long duration and recurs in antiquity and it was mentioned among many diseases in medical sources historical and papyrus documents in general it did not single out a research of his own that traces the causes of his infection, and ways of treating it so the cornerstone of this study was to follow that by presenting what was mentioned in those sources from the medical work of doctors and non-physicians working in the medical profession, especially in the Roman era which explains Explain what is meant by chronic diseases.

The credit for enriching the scientific material of the research is due to the libraries of the Royal Society of Medicine and the Library of Medicine in London - Britain - regarding the sources and references for both the medical and historical aspects as they were not available in many of the research sites for the specialty which enabled me to track acute diseases that are considered Gout is one of them in addition to the scientific medical terminology indicating it as well as the causes of its infection methods of treatment and how to deal with patients who suffer from it.
