The research aims to analyze the reality of the investment environment in Iraq through its determinants and indicators and to indicate its suitability for the establishment of industrial zones that contribute to attracting private investment.

The research problem lies in the weak investment environment and its inappropriateness to attract private investment due to the instability of political and security conditions, as well as the deteriorating economic conditions and the deterioration of infrastructure.

The research reached several conclusions, the most important of which was that there was a delay and confusion in the work of the Iraqi government in providing a safe investment environment bearing the components of the appropriateenvironment to attract local and foreign investment.

In addition to that, Iraq suffers from a major deficiency in the infrastructure, As well as the increase in administrative and financial corruption.

The study recommended the necessity to diversify the structure of the national economy and not to rely entirely on the oil sector, to pay special attention to the industrial sector and raise its contribution to the gross domestic product, and to direct programs and policies that stimulate domestic and foreign investments.
