This study aims to know the attitudes of university youth in Iraqi Kurdistan towards the Kurdish satellite channels’ coverage of the national security issues of the Kurdistan region and its role in shaping their knowledge and attitudes towards these issues, whether at the internal level, or at the external level .: This study is based on the media survey method, and the field study was conducted on an available stratified sample of 420 respondents from students of three universities in the Kurdistan region of Iraq (Salah al-Din University- University of Sulaymaniyah- University of Dohuk) in a manner of equal distribution between the three universities.

Study results: - University youth depend on political talk show programs on Kurdish satellite channels as a main and important source of their information on the national security issues of the Kurdistan region of Iraq (with a medium degree of accreditation) with a percentage of 63.7%, and that 22.4% depend on it (with a weak degree), and 13.9% rely on it (to a large degree).

- The motive of following important events and issues in the Kurdistan region came at the forefront of motives for watching political dialogues programs, then a motive to form a specific opinion on the issues, followed by the motive of knowing the details of the issue at hand and the developments of its events.

- The phrase (neighboring countries’ interference in the relationship between Erbil and Baghdad made the matter more complicated) ranked first among the scale phrases, as it obtained degrees of approval and support, followed by the phrase (the independence referendum crisis showed the need to find realistic solutions and avoid talking about the past) in the second order .
