The events of September 11, 2001 represented a turning point in the development of the phenomenon of terrorism and its transformation from an internal phenomenon to a cross-border phenomenon, not only in the terrorist act, but in the breadth of its impact on the movement of international relations.

With this transformation, the United Nations began formulating a global strategy to combat terrorism as a threat to international peace and security, but it did not bear fruit.

It was natural to develop new approaches in international dealing with the phenomenon, starting with expanding the concept itself, to providing sociological visions in combating and preventing terrorism and dealing with its various problems, and not being limited to the security dimension in the approaches to combating it, developing the role of "Gender" in preventing violence extremism was one of the most important of these extended approaches.

Egypt affirms its responsiveness to UN requirements to address various security challenges, and provides special expertise in employing gender in preventing violent extremis.
