Urban primacy has become a feature of many Egyptian cities, especially Cairo, Alexandria, and most provincial capitals, This hegemony played a major role in the ence of a clear pattern of the urban system at the level of urban centers in Egypt in general and in the Alexandria region in particular, Where the Urban primacy of cities with a population and service concentration in the Alexandria region, the most important of which are the city of Alexandria, the city of damanhour, and the city of Marsa Matrouh, represents a source of concern for life in it, This is due to its negative effects on the urban, economic and social aspects of these cities in particular, and the urban system in the region in general, and therefore the research problem lies in the ence of clear strategies to address the imbalance in the urban system in the region to reduce this urban dominance, and the research aims to identify the dominant cities in the region And analyze its causes, in addition to identifying the reasons for the imbalance of the urban network, and the research also aims to reach a number of proposed strategies to address the imbalance in the urban network system in the region, The research has proven that the city of Alexandria is the first dominant and dominant city in the urban system in the region, because it is an attractive pole for migration flows from inside and outside the region, as it accounts for about 76.32 % of the region's total population, due to the continued focus of services and development projects in it, and then some followed by some Cities with a lower degree of dominance, including the city of Damanhour with a percentage of 4.31 % of the total population of the region, then the city of Idku with a percentage of 2.4 % of the total population of the region, then the city of Marsa Matrouh with a percentage of 2.4 % of the total population of the region, The research also proved that this hegemony will lead to continued developmental instability and imbalance in the size hierarchy of urban centers in the region, and to address this, a number of important recommendations were proposed, including encouraging urban development in cities with small population sizes, including Nubaria City, El Dabaa City, as well as cities with The average population sizes, including the city of Abu Homs and the city of Abu al-Matamir, in order to achieve the gradation of size in the urban system in the region, and these cities will play an important role in preventing the flow of migration flows to the dominant cities in the region, including the city of Alexandria, the city of Damanhour and the city of Marsa Matrouh, In addition to limiting development investments in the dominant cities in the region, the most important of which is the city of Alexandria, and directing it towards the new city of Burj Al Arab and the new city of Nubariya.
