Although transport by vehicles is one of the most important means of land transport that is indispensable to humans.

However, the steady increase in population numbers in most countries of the developing world, including Iraq, which is accompanied by a similar increase in the number of vehicles, has created a pressing problem that has been suffering from these countries.

It is a problem of road traffic accidents.

As a result, significant numbers of the population went away, mutilated and obstructed others, and wasted a lot of money, resources and human capacities that those countries needed to finance their development projects that reflected their effects on the individual and society.

Therefore, this search came to reveals the size of these accidents on the main roads in Diyala governorate for the period (2007 - 2017) and the reasons that they created through the official reports and plans of accidents provided to the researcher from the relevant authorities as well as the field study.

The search came out with a number of conclusions, perhaps the most important of which is that there is a spatial variation of transportation accidents on the main roads in Diyala Governorate.

It is justified by the difference in the engineering and design specifications on these roads, as well as the variation in the traffic volume and the nature of the land uses on both sides.
