This study was conducted in North Kordofan State during the period 2016-2018.

The problem of the study was represented in lack of development sustainability in rural areas.

Six hypotheses were placed out as development constraints.

The first hypothesis stated that agriculture in the northern Kordofan countryside is characterized by small holdings, suffering from inadequate rainfall and pest prevalence.

The second hypothesis is that agriculture in the countryside of North Kordofan faces problems in irrgaation and storage.

Multi-stage random sample 3 was used where 135 villages were selected from the state's villages from which a sample size of 750 individuals was selected.

Data were statistically analyzed by the SPSS - 21 program using Chi – square test for dependency at significant level of 0.05.The results showed that the agricultural holdings were small and ranged between 1 - 10 feddans where the value of the calculated Chi was 414.634 and the critical value was 18.31 and the field crops were dependent on the rains which were not enough where the value of calculated Chi-square was 279.14 and the critical value was 5.991, also it was found that crops are always exposed to field and storage pests with a calculated Chi-square value of 13.560 and a critical value of 5.991, It is noted that the calculated Chi-square values are greater than their critical values, therefore, the hypothesis was fulfilled.It is recommended that agricultural technologies should be provided and infrastructures of water, health and education services have to be improved toreduce migration to towns to achieve balanced development in rural areas.
