Foreign concessions formed one of the colonial formulas that were used to control some nations and peoples in order to exploit, weaken and acquire the sources of wealth in them, by concluding unfair treaties that did not have any of the terms of the treaty; except their formal form, with the intention of camouflaging, misleading, and suggesting that this type of relationship is based on The parties agree their will and their consent to their alleged mutual interest.

In light of this, this research came to give a brief overview of the Chinese asymmetric treaties and focus on the Belgian Treaty in 1865.

The research was divided into three main axes, the first touched on foreign concessions in China and the nature of the asymmetric treaties and their impact on the political, economic and social system on China, What are the means used by the major powers to force China to agree to those treaties, while the second axis studied the Sino-Belgian Treaty of 1865, and the Chinese position rejecting it, while the third axis focused on the legal arguments that China submitted to the court International Justice, which coercion and circumstances change and inequality.
