A study of the distribution of the Al-Gharaf river deposits which affected by the regulators of the river course was conducted in the governorates of Wasit and Thi-Qar, to see their affected on some of the characteristics of the soil deposits, whether physical or chemical, and the quantitative and qualitative distribution of the feldspar mineral, soil samples were taken from the banks of the Al-Gharaf river channel in the front and rear of the six regulators, along the river course, after digging 12 pedons distributed along the channel, during the spring season of 2019.

After taking the samples, they were prepared for laboratory tests and performing the necessary analyzes.

the results showed that the silt values were superior to the values of sand and clay, and that the clay values increased in soils the front of the regulator compared to soils in the rear of the regulator in all the locations, and the value increased with the distance traveled between the soil in the rear of the regulator to the next soil of the front regulator and in all locations, and the sand values were higher at the soils in the rear of the regulator compared to the soils in the front of the regulator and in all locations.

the ratios of the alkali feldspar orthoclase ranged between 2.1-3.3% , were decreased In the surface horizons of the soil in the front of the regulator compared to soil in the rear of the regulator, while it was increasing in the subsurface horizons at the soil in the front of the regulator, and the percentage of the mineral alkali feldspar microcline ranged between 2.0-2.9% , and it was increased in the surface horizons soil in the front of the regulator compared to soil in the rear of the regulator and at all location, while the percentage decreased with in the subsurface horizons of the soil in the front of the regulator Compared to soil in the rear of the regulator, the percentage of microcline mineral was decreasing with the depth in the front of the regulator while the opposite was in the backside.

The percentage of plagioclase mineral ranged between 3.0-3.9 and did not show a clear pattern of distribution horizontally and vertically, but it was a random distribution and did not show a contrast in proportion to the distance as well.

The results clarified the role of the regulators established on the Al-Gharraf River in direct influence on the characteristics and mineralogical characteristics of the soils of the sediments of these areas.
