The right to a fair trial is one of the most important human rights that have been accorded to attention by various religions and civilizations throughout the ages, In addition, Countries have endeavored to incorporate this right into their domestic law.

On a global scale, international conventions have been keen to give many guarantees that aim at achieving the highest fair trial, including a reasonable period as a guarantee that constitutes a fundamental right for the purpose of fair proceedings.

And because the proceedings are increasing continuously day after day, it was necessary to rule cases without delay or procrastination that might intimidate adversaries and increase the burden of justice.

This research is divided into two major parts, and each part includes two topics and sections as required by the study.

Finally, the study came up with a number of recommendations, the most important of which is the need to include in our legislation the guarantee of reasonable duration as a right that is inherent in the humanitarian character, in addition to regulating it strictly by defining its scope, the criteria for their violation, and the resulting effects.
