research sought to adopt the structural approach in the analysis, the study, and the use of semiotics in Haris Al-Safeenah ‘Ship Guard ’ novel by Abdullah Naji, in order to reveal the opposite binary, their semantic structure, and the resulting questions from the characters and the novel through their self-interaction.

The research was divided into an introduction, a section discussing the topic (at the level of: opposite binary and elements of narrative narration, and at the level of opposite binary and semantics structure in novelistic discourse), and then the conclusion that summarized the results of the research.

Among the most important results is that the opposite binary has contributed to the cohesion of both the narrative structure and the discourse.

The conflict between opposite binary and their formation in semantics structure resulted in the idea of the novel and its subject in terms of expressing the contemplation of existence, the universe and the world
