This paper deals with the resurgence of political violence memories in a context of social protest and the regaining of freedom of speech; memories which constitute the object of political protest, backed up by representations scenarized by political violence.
Photos and slogans from the demonstrations are used to decipher the way in which certain historical sequences from the postindependent Algeria, marked by state violence, have reappeared in the space of protest for the sake of gaining a deep understanding of the aspiration of Algerian society for a greater accuracy of the historical “truth” but also for a call for justice and for a rendering of accounts.

Cette contribution porte sur la résurgence des mémoires de la violence politique dans un contexte de contestation sociale et de récupération de la liberté de parole ; des mémoires qui se constituent en objet de la contestation politique adossées à des représentations scénarisées de la violence politique.
À partir des photos et des slogans des manifestations, on décryptera la façon dont certaines séquences historiques de l’Algérie post-indépendante, marquées par la violence d’État, ressurgissent dans l’espace de la contestation pour mieux comprendre l'aspiration de la société algérienne à une plus grande justesse de la « vérité » historique mais également à une demande de justice et à une reddition des comptes.
