The author starts with a short historical survey of the Palestine Question followed by a brief introduction to the different types of Palestinian folksongs and reaches the conclusion that songs sung during wedding processious are particularly relevant for slogans chanted during demonstrations.

A demonstration is usually very similar to a wedding processionin form and spirit.

Such songs are simple, easy to follow by the crowd and their tunes are suitable for the high spirits and collective movement of the crowd.

Slogans are usually derived from such songs, says the author of the article, in three ways.

One is to incorporate the actual verses of a song into a slogan.

The other is to modify, edit, and reword the verses of a song to make them more suitable for the occasion.

The third is to imitate a folk song in composing original slogans.

The author then gives a long list of slogans used by Palestinian during the intifada and composes each with the song from which it was originally derived.
