This study aims to clarify the causes of the Saudi-Iranian conflict and the impact of the sectarian dimension on the relations of the two countries, and the factors that led to the expansion of Iranian influence in the Arab region, including the exit of Iraq from the regional equation, and the failure of the Saudi attempt to emerge as a regional power in countering Iran’s influence, The importance of the study stems from the fact that the Saudi-Iranian conflict has plunged the region into a state of instability, and the American and Israeli intervention intensified the conflict, which encouraged Saudi Arabia to enter into an indirect military confrontation with Iran with the aim of achieving balance.

After comparing the two countries in terms of the elements of power, it became clear that the balance of power suffers from a major imbalance, and is tilted in favor of Iran, which gives it the strategic weight in any regional security arrangements, and the study reached a set of results, including that the causes of the Saudi-Iranian conflict were sectarian and political, The study reached some recommendations, including that the difference in doctrines should not be the cause of conflict between Sunnis and Shiites, which leads to the weakening of Muslims through sectarian and sectarian divisions, that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia pursue a prudent foreign policy that achieves friendly relations with its neighbors.

In this study, the historical method is used to present the information according to the historical sequence and the descriptive and analytical method for analyzing the stages of relations between the two countries.
