This research, entitled The Economic and Commercial Importance of Ports of the West Coast of the Red Sea and its Impact on the Mamluk State Trade, aims at identifying the ports of the western coast of the Red Sea and the importance of these economic and commercial ports of the Mamluk state.

The researcher used the narrative historical approach with the information analysis of the events in order to clarify its role in the transportation of goods and pilgrims’ movement between them .It also aims at finding out its relationship with other ports on the coasts of the Indian Ocean and its impact on the export and incoming movement at the level of international and local trade and the amount of goods that were circulated in these ports and their diversity.

The research attained many results, the most important of which were that the western ports of the Red Sea served the trade movement before Islam and continued this role during the Islamic era and in particular the era of the Mamluk state that realized the importance of the Red Sea the movement of international trade, and the types of commodities exported and imported through the western coast ports of the Red Sea flourished and relations flourished Trade between the ports of the western coast of the Red Sea, the ports of Southeast Asia, the ports of southeastern Africa and the coasts of the Arabian Peninsula.

The research came up with many recommendations .The most important of which are that , studies on the Red Sea in general and ports in particular need further research and scrutiny, moreover, the universities should adopt a proposal to rewrite the history of the Red Sea.
