Amedi district played a role in the organization and political parties which had an activity in Badinan area.

A number of Amedi citizens and the surrounding areas practiced a leading role in it.

They also took part in extending the organizations of these party inside and outside Amedi.

Amedi had been affected by the political struggle among parties which had been activated there like the existing contention between the organizations of Kurdistan Democratic Party members (KDP) and communists in Amedi.

This contention was not only member political but also among a number of families to expand their authority.

Furthermore, many city citizens stood beside this party or other party as compliment of the contenting families.

A large number of people stood beside (KDP) after the 14th July 1958 because they were against the communism as principle for not serving their interests, whereas others supported the communists as they considered them the other side of the supporters of the old monarchal regime to an extent they stood against the celebration of KDP with the national Newroz Eid in Amedi for breaking the principles and instructions of communistic party.

The important thing about it is that these subjectivity stances of some communists led to a famous battle between the two parties in the market of Alwaheed city in Newroz 1960 called the market battle.

The Iraqi communistic party had many supporters and members in Amedi in 1950s of the last century.

Moreover, they had a prominent a role in the political events which Iraq saw in that period.

But in the early 1960, the communist authority began to diminish for the KDP especially after the return of the party head from compulsory exile in the Soviet Union Previosly in October 1958 and the KDP leadership of Aylul Revolution.

Communistic party first had a watching stance but then they called on peace in Kurdistan.
